PhysioYoga

PhysioYoga combines evidence based physical therapy and Medical Therapeutic Yoga for an integrative approach to your treatment experience.

What is Medical Therapeutic Yoga (MTY)? Medical Therapeutic Yoga is the practice of yoga in medicine, rehabilitation, and wellness settings used and taught exclusively by a licensed health care professional. Those trained in MTY use an integrative approach to healing, utilizing the Pentagon of Wellness. This includes consideration of energetic, spiritual, physical, intellectual and psycho-emotional-social in all treatments and classes taught.

What are the benefits of Medical Therapeutic Yoga? The benefits of a consistent practice of MTY are many and can include: increased strength and flexibility, improved sleep, relaxation, decreased stress, improved immune function, improved concentration, and decreased pain... Just to name a few!

What are individual sessions like? PhysioYoga sessions are 55 minutes in length and are offered at the Baker To Bay locations or in the comfort of your own home. Medical Therapeutic Yoga is utilized during physical therapy treatments as well.

Do you teach group classes? Yes, PhysioYoga is taught in a group setting at the Bellingham Yoga Collective and Lynden Yoga Collective on Wednesdays.

Can someone who is injured participate? If you are suffering from an injury, a one-on-one assessment should be completed to determine if a class setting is appropriate for you. If it is, you will learn specific techniques in the one-on-one session which are most appropriate for you to then carry over into the class setting.

PhysioYoga is designed to help increase your strength and flexibility while in a relaxing environment. If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to contact me at brandis@bakertobaypt.com or by calling 360-318-5478 to learn more!
